Career Week was a great success at Rhame Avenue, as students had an opportunity to learn about a variety of occupations.

Third-graders enjoyed a visit from Ted Yagnisis, owner of the Oceanside IHOP. Mr. Yagnisis explained that his father handed down the business to him almost 10 years ago. He also shared how he uses math every day and answered all of the children's questions. Geraldine Pizzo, an occupational therapist, also visited the students. Pizzo spoke about the fun games she creates to help patients regain their fine motor skills.
Meanwhile, pediatric nurse practitioner Kathleen DeVarso visited fifth-grade students. Ms. DeVarso shared information about the classes she needed for her occupation and explained a typical day of caring for patients.

In addition to the visit from Ms. DeVarso, fifth-graders learned about advertising, catastrophic relief, medical malpractice and television production. Both grade levels enjoyed a variety of presentations that shed light on possible career choices.

Principal Erik Walter extended his gratitude to all the Career Week volunteers for sharing their time and talents with Rhame Avenue students.
