Students in East Rockaway’s Skills & Achievement work program received a special surprise when alumni Taylor Aloisio and former varsity baseball player Jacob Barth, co-founders of Teen Talk, visited East Rockaway Junior-Senior High School on May 19.

Social worker Maureen Schutta coordinated the event with coach James Hickey and members of the varsity baseball team for a social inclusion activity followed by refreshments. In keeping with the theme of school readiness and job readiness, all students handed in their cell phones so that a genuine "talk" could occur. The students joked with staff about the lineup of cell phones and the ensuing visual work of art that it created. In addition, the group reviewed the rules for varsity baseball and related them to the world of school and work.

A big thank you to all those who participated!
