Centre Avenue’s sixth grade students from Ms. Kelly Dowling and Dr. Christian Soto's class took their education outside of the classroom by venturing to Hofstra University to attend the Sixth Grade Conference Day and then visited the Long Island Maritime Museum.

At Hofstra, they learned about real-life situations regarding careers, drugs and alcohol, and cyberbullying. With that, they were arranged into groups and rotated through different workshops to participate in hands-on activities.

The museum trip was also an exciting expedition for students, as they toured five historic buildings and houses, viewed more than 20,000 artifacts, and witnessed 50 historic Long Island watercrafts.

Students enjoyed the interactive and educational activities both adventures offered.
