Student Achievement Takes Center Stage at April BOE Meeting

Members of the East Rockaway School District’s Board of Education recognized the outstanding achievements of the district’s students at its April 19 board meeting.
    
Those honored at the meeting included Centre Avenue sixth-grader Madeleine Prucha, who qualified for the state level competition for the National Geographic Geography Bee and East Rockaway Junior-Senior High School’s girls varsity basketball players, who were recipients of the New York State Team Scholar Athlete Award. Many student-artists from the district were also celebrated for having their artwork featured at a multitude of exhibitions, including the Long Island’s Best: Young Artists at the Heckscher Museum, the Art Supervisors’ Show, New York State Art Teachers Association Legislative Exhibit, Long Island Museum Colors of Long Island Exhibit, Huntington Camera Club High School Photography Competition and the Art in the HeART exhibit. Additional recognition was given to students who had their artwork displayed at the Nassau Community College 18th annual Art Competition, Congressional Art Competition, NYSATA Portfolio Review, Art Guild I’m Ready for my Close-Up Photography exhibit, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Art Exhibit and the New York State School Board Association exhibit.
