Centre Avenue sixth-graders Brianna Halstead, Rowena Poorajah and Isabella Schaefer took on extra responsibility and created a special Cooperation Tree for Wayne Smyle's physical education class.

The Cooperation Tree is used to assist students in identifying and applying cooperative words in physical education class and outside of school to build civility and lifetime skills. The tree is used in a variety of class lessons, including the Cooperative Games unit, which tasks students to focus on positive words, which apply directly to a particular topic. Cooperation is the main idea and featured on the tree’s trunk, while lifetime skill words such as kindness, teamwork and trust represent the roots. The tree also includes blank leaves so that students can write their name and vocabulary word to be recognized for their efforts. We are excited to use the Cooperation Tree during the 2016-17 school year.
