The group also learned about lesson planning and met with the East Rockaway Teachers Association’s executive board.

Other workshops highlighted as part of the professional development focused on administrative orientation, Annual Professional Performance Review and the observation process, the Dignity for All Students Act, technology orientation, and collecting, understanding, analyzing and using data to drive instruction.

“We are thrilled to welcome our new teachers to the East Rockaway school community,” Superintendent Ruiz said. “We are fortunate to have hired a highly enthusiastic, talented, intelligent and well-trained group of professionals. Their diverse backgrounds and skill sets will be a welcome addition to each of our building teams. We look forward to supporting them in their professional growth and wish them long and successful careers in our district.”
