Schwarzman Performs with NYSSMA All-State Orchestra
East Rockaway junior Andrew Schwarzman was one of 12 double bass players from across the state to perform as part of the All-State Symphony Orchestra at the New York State School Music Association Conference in Rochester, New York.

Approximately 7,000 students audition for eight All-State performing groups, with just under 900 selected to participate each year. Andrew was also selected for the All-State Mixed Chorus, but due to rehearsal restrictions was only allowed to participate in one ensemble. He is the first district student selected to perform since 2007. Members of the music department are very proud of Andrew’s achievements.

Andrew was joined by music teachers Seanna Silver and Marichelle Weill at the conference. The pair discussed and engaged with the most recent research and pedagogical practices in music education. This information was then shared with the entire music department upon their return.
