Middle School Hosts Annual Science Fair

East Rockaway Junior-Senior High School seventh- and eighth-grade students competed in the school’s annual Science Fair on Jan. 12.

The students began their projects in October, conducting research and experiments and creating display boards to explain their work. At their teachers’ direction, they created projects to fit into one of four categories: Living Environment, Behavioral Life Science, Physical Science or Earth Science. They competed in two rounds of classroom competition, which led to many receiving honorable mentions and three students in each of the four categories being named winners.

Congratulations to the following students, who will have an opportunity to compete in the Long Island Science Congress at St. Anthony’s High School in April:

Seventh-Grade Living Environment
Madeleine Prucha, first place; Kathryn McMahon, second place; and Jason Miller, third place.

Seventh-Grade Behavioral Life Science
Emily McLaughlin, first place; Anthony DeSano, second place; and Isabelle Anderson, third place.

Eighth-Grade Physical Science
