LiveOnNY Comes to East Rockaway

East Rockaway Junior-Senior High School students learned about new lifesaving legislation when representatives from LiveOnNY, an organ procurement organization, visited their school on Valentine’s Day.

During the school’s lunch periods, students were educated about the launch of the Young Adult Bill, which allows 16 and 17 year old people to register as organ and tissue donors. Students learned what it means to be an organ donor and had an opportunity to register for donation. They also took part in a trivia contest in hopes of winning a T-shirt and had fun taking photos in a photo booth with a variety of props.

Superintendent Lisa Ruiz thanked Board of Education President Patricia Nicoletti for bringing this important initiative to the attention of the school’s students. To see Fox 5 NY’s coverage of the event, click on the following link: http://www.fox5ny.com/news/235817731-video
