East Rockaway Enterprise students in grades 3-6 enjoyed a wonderful guest speaker experience when architect James Prisco visited their class on March 21.

Mr. Prisco, a local architect whose business is based in Garden City, taught the students about architecture, what being an architect entails and answered a plethora of questions from them.

Mr. Prisco spoke of his education, inspirations and professional experiences. He also shared pictures of projects and buildings he had designed and showed blueprints of a home he recently designed that will soon be built in Merrick. The students took to his warm personality instantly and fired away with questions from the moment he walked into the classroom. He spoke with ease to the students and the back and forth dialogue did not cease until he was out the door. One student who was home sick from school even participated via FaceTime.

Mr. Prisco is the president of the Long Island Chapter of the American Institute of Architects. He volunteered his time to educate the students to excite them about the field and study of architecture. It was a wonderful learning experience for the Enterprise students. Teacher Michelle Healy extended her gratitude to Mr. Prisco for greatly enhancing the class’ study of architecture.
