Centre Avenue kindergarten students have been learning about author’s craft. Author’s craft is the technique writers use to make their writing interesting, which focuses on the author’s intentional use of language, story elements, style and structures to create an effect on the reader.

As part of their study, students have been examining works by Mo Willems. The kindergartners worked with a partner to look for examples of author’s craft in many different Mo Willems books. Then, as a class, they created a tree map listing all the examples they could find. The class loved learning about Mo Willems!
