District administrators and members of the Board of Education recognized retirees secretary Linda Jarmel and East Rockaway Junior-Senior High School library assistant Pamela Castellano on Jan. 23.

Linda, a secretary in the district’s technology department, began her tenure in East Rockaway working in Rhame Avenue School’s main office. She ultimately moved to the district’s technology department in 2002. Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction Mona Hecht paid tribute to Linda, describing her as “thoughtful, conscientious and a valuable colleague,” while Superintendent of Schools Lisa Ruiz acknowledged her as “one of the superstars of the district.”

Pamela leaves the district after more than 26 years of service. She began as a classroom aide at Rhame Avenue School and most recently worked as a library assistant at the junior-senior high school. East Rockaway Junior-Senior High School Assistant Principal James DeTommaso described Pamela as “always courteous and smiling.”

Superintendent Ruiz and members of the Board of Education expressed their gratitude to Linda and Pamela for their years of service and wished them a well-deserved and happy retirement.
