Students at Centre Avenue School shared positive thoughts about themselves, their peers, school faculty and family members during the school’s second annual Positive Post-it Day on May 16.

The activity was organized by Centre Avenue’s Positive School Culture Committee as a way for students to share kindness with each other. The youngsters were given a variety of colored Post-its to distribute. One was given to each student so they could share a positive message about themselves. They also wrote a kind message to a peer, a staff member and to someone at home. In addition, teachers shared a kind message with each of their students.

According to teacher Kirsten Miolan, the activity was expanded this year to include a staff member and a family member to connect those individuals with classroom learning.

“It was a huge success,” Mrs. Miolan said of the activity. “The students felt really empowered.”
