The district is proud to announce that Junior-Senior High School students Andrew Calise, Peter Kaplan, Jordan Lu and Louis Perri recently took first place in the teamwork challenge of the Vex IQ Challenge Tournament Qualifier at Friends Academy. The VEX IQ Challenge provides elementary and middle school students with exciting, open-ended robotics and research project challenges that enhance student STEM skills through hands-on, student-centered learning.

The first-place win qualifies these students for participation in the Vex IQ Southern New York State Championship event in February. If they win at states, they will move on to compete in the Vex World Tournament.

Michelle Healy, middle school robotics co-adviser, said, “We are so proud of these students for their hard work, dedication, perseverance skills and collaborative efforts.”
