Students Craft Cutting Boards

Students Craft Cutting Boards
East Rockaway Junior-Senior High School students in Mr. Nick Cimorelli’s production systems class designed and fabricated their own cutting boards. They were asked to research designs, sizes and materials that would be appropriate and would hold up to the board’s usage.

Students chose from a variety of wood, including black walnut, cherry and maple, to make their pattern by gluing the parts together. They used their knowledge of the safe and proper use of machinery to create a shape of their choice, then they used the laser engraver to put the finishing touch on their board that will last for many years to come.
