Pumpkins decorated in characters from “Monster’s Inc.,” “Frozen,” “Star Wars,” “Alice in Wonderland,” “Lilo & Stitch” and more were lined up in Centre Avenue Elementary School’s multipurpose room for its second annual Literary Character Pumpkin Patch Contest. 

Sixth graders and staff members transformed a pumpkin into any fictional character using different materials and resources and brought them into school. For two days, students from grade K-6 and all staff members used tickets to vote for their favorite pumpkin. 
Student category winners were Paola Rivera and Adrianna Becker, who took first place for their “Peppa Pig;” Charlotte Webster, who took second place for her BB-8 from “Star Wars;” and Jaelynn Bastien for her Stitch from “Lilo & Stitch.” The winner of the teacher category was Ms. Ashley Tener for her pigeon.
