Opportunity

Goal: Ensure success for every student.

Desired Outcome: The East Rockaway School District will increase opportunities that foster academic, social and emotional achievement for all students.

Objectives:

  • Enhance extracurricular opportunities across all grade levels.
  • Educate all stakeholders regarding the opportunities available in the district.
  • Increase awareness for all district stakeholders regarding career development and college/career readiness.
  • Provide multiple pathways for students to postsecondary education programs and career opportunities.

  

   

Year-Three Measuring Success – Opportunity

 
  September 2018
 
 
  • Increased participation in Advanced Regents classes, CTE programs and SAT program.
  • Increased extracurricular offerings including participation in LICEE Middle-Level Student Leader Institute and the opportunity for certain classes to utilize the DNA Learning Center at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory.
  • Year 4 of the Unified Sports Program.
  • Addition of new clubs, including Arts Club (all levels), Chess Club, NYS Mentoring Program, Stage Design and Tri-M Music Honor Society.
  • More than 80 percent of our students at each grade level are participating in after-school clubs or athletics.

  • Participation in Advanced Regents classes, CTE programs and SAT prep programs.
  • Creation of new programs.
  • Increase in extracurricular opportunities.

  • Enhanced focus on career development and awareness.
  • Participation in more than 20 student exhibitions across Long Island.
  • Regional student participation in poetry, robotics, music, LI Science Congress, Geography Bee and Long Island’s Best Young Artists at the Heckscher.
  • Addition of new clubs – Chess, DECA, Gay Straight Alliance, K-Kids, Mock Trial, Peer Mentoring.
  • Year 3 of Unified Sports Program.
