East Rockaway Junior-Senior High School’s seniors Gabby Walsh and Peter Wilson were recognized as Nassau Zone of New York State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance award recipients.   

This honor recognizes one female and one male in the 2018 graduating class, who exemplify and demonstrate an understanding of the New York State learning standards for health and physical education by exhibiting a physically active lifestyle, both during and outside of school. Recipients of this award have demonstrated responsible personal and social behavior, including good sportsmanship, character, civility and citizenship; exhibited leadership as a positive influence on their peers; and value a healthy lifestyle and lifelong learning, garnering exceptional achievement in physical education class and achieving a high level of fitness on an approved fitness test.
