Junior-Senior High School seventh and eighth grade English students received a visit from school social worker Ms. Amy Weissman and participated in a variety of activities in honor of National Bullying Prevention Month.

Powerful discussions centered on the Dignity For All Students Act, different types of bullying, conflict vs. bullying, the psychological effects of bullying, what to do if you experience bullying, what to say to the person being bullied, how to be an upstander, trusted adults in their lives they can speak with and the criminal aspects of cyberbullying.

Students took a pretest at the beginning of the lesson and a posttest at the end of the lesson to gauge their knowledge about bullying. They were also encouraged to sign the antibullying pledge banner during their Advisory classes and wear orange on Unity Day, Oct. 23.
