Celebrating a Tenure Recipient in East Rockaway

In what was truly a night of celebration, as Junior-Senior High School art teacher Kelly Cabasso was awarded tenure at the monthly Board of Education meeting.

During this time, Principal Richard Schaffer highlighted Cabasso, who is She’s a member of New York Art Teachers Association and the Long Island Art Teachers Association. He explained how her accomplishments are reflected in her students. They’ve achieved a 100% rate of level 3s, 4s and 5s on AP art exams, more than 65 Scholastic Art and Writing awards, which include a gold and silver award in 2018, scholar artists and countless others. 

“Kelly began her tenure at East Rockaway Junior-Senior High School in September of 2015 and has worked tirelessly to revitalize our art program,” Principal Richard Schaffer said. “Walking into Ms. Cabasso’s classroom is quite an experience. Students are working productively and independently while simultaneously engaging in conversations about their work and the personal connections they have to their work.”
