Festive handcrafted balloons where floating through Rhame Avenue Elementary School for the school’s annual Balloons Over Rhame Avenue Parade. The event is an adaptation of Melissa Sweet’s book “Balloons Over Broadway,” which tells the true story of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
For the exciting celebration, kindergarten students picked different characters and crafted their own balloons or puppets from giant paper and then stuffed them with newspaper. Characters that were featured include, Batman, Elmo, Mini Mouse, Buzz Lightyear, The Grinch, Olaf and more.
They carried their creations proudly through the building and circled the gymnasium, where the rest of the school witnessed their balloons and cheered them on. Kindergarten parents attended the event and were serenaded by students who sang three festive songs.
