Rhame Avenue Elementary School’s second grade students worked collaboratively to build a structure that would support 25 teddy bears. The activity is part of a science lesson, where students are sharpening their knowledge on supports and structures. In addition, they are learning to write like scientists by forming a hypothesis in Writer’s Workshop.

The supportive structures that the students crafted were made from masking tape, paper plates, construction paper, aluminum foil and toilet paper rolls. The activity was a great way to integrate their learning in an interactive and meaningful way.
