AVID Students of the East Rockaway Junior-Senior High School took an exciting trip to Philadelphia to attend AVID College Day at the Wells Fargo Center on Dec. 2.

AVID, which stands for Advanced Via Individual Determination, is a college readiness program designed to help students develop the skills they need to be successful in college.

With 35 students of the school’s ninth grade in attendance, the day included a college fair with over 30 colleges represented. In addition, they experienced a panel discussion that was led by Philadelphia 76er executives, who spoke to students about marketing themselves for college. 

They also got a stadium tour and stayed for that night’s 76ers game against Utah Jazz.
