Centre Avenue and Rhame Avenue school students in grades fourth through sixth took to their school stage to compete in the 2020 National Geographic GeoBee. 

Rhame Avenue finalists were Yihan Wang (first place), Timmy Yagnisis (second place) and Alexandria Centano (third place). Other finalists included Briana Ramos-Rodriguez, Braydon Doyle and Anna Muller. Taking first place for Centre Avenue was Jason Lu, Atticus Gamache came in second and Sean Mansfield was the third-place winner.

The school-level competition is the first round in the annual National Geographic GeoBee, a geography competition designed to inspire and reward students’ curiosity about the world. Questions cover not only geography, but also cultures, physical features, history and earth science.

Wang and Lu will have the opportunity to advance to the next round of competition, where they will take an online qualifying test. The national champion will win a college scholarship from National Geographic and a prize trip.
