Centre Avenue School was a buzz as students joined together to celebrate National No One Eats Alone Day.
Facilitated by school social worker Ms. Amy Weissman and student council teachers Ms. Danielle Schaetzle and Ms. Ashley Tener, students are encouraged to sit with students they don’t know, and spot others who might feel left out and include them. The goal is for everyone to feel included, valued, respected and accepted by their peers, while contributing to a healthy and positive school climate.
In addition, students also signed pledge banners with the words #kindness and #bekind and received "Inspiring Youth to End Social Isolation" stickers and wristbands. In her speech, sixth grader Zoe Cerna asked students to sit with someone new and to make sure everyone is included at recess, not just on No One Eats Alone Day, but every day.
