Updated Absentee Ballot Information

On or about May 27, 2020, absentee ballots, with instructions, will be mailed to active, registered voters who reside in the East Rockaway UFSD boundary. An active, registered voter is someone who voted in either the school district or national/state elections (from your current address) within the past four years. To verify if you are an active registered voter you can check by following this link: https://nb.findmypollplace.com/eastrockawayufsd/AmIRegistered.aspx?language=en

If your name does not appear as an active registered voter, you must contact the Nassau County Board of Elections to update your voter registration information.

 

Receipt of Ballots

To ensure absentee ballots are returned in a timely manner, the District has arranged for drop-off of ballots. All ballots can to be returned to the East Rockaway Jr./Sr. High School, 443 Ocean Avenue, East Rockaway, NY 11518 on the following days at the following times:

 

June 1st through June 5th (Monday-Friday)

Between the hours of 8:00 am until 1:00 pm, a security aide will be at the East Rockaway Jr./Sr. High School front door. You will need to ring the front doorbell and a security aide will allow you to enter the vestibule where you will place your ballot in a locked box.

 

June 8th and June 9th (Monday and Tuesday)

Between the hours of 8:00 am until 5:00 pm, a security aide will be at the East Rockaway Jr./Sr. High School front door. You will need to ring the front doorbell and a security aide will allow you to enter the vestibule where you will place your ballot in a locked box.

 

Ballots are due to the District Clerk no later than 5:00 pm on Tuesday, June 9, 2020.

Reminder: Ballots can also be mailed via the U.S. Post Office using the postage paid return envelope provided in your packet. Please allow enough time for the ballot to be received by the District on June 9, 2020.

 

Voter Registration:

Due to the resulting ordered closure of schools, personal registration with the school district will not take place for the June 9, 2020 election. In lieu of such registration, individuals can register through New York State Department of Motor Vehicle’s voter registration website (https://dmv.ny.gov/more-info/electronic-voter-registration-application) and be eligible to receive an absentee ballot for the adjourned June 9, 2020 vote, provided that the individual registers before May 26, 2020.
