The district is proud to announce that the Junior-Senior High School’s art department hosted its first Virtual College Portfolio Night, where 14 college representatives participated.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many student activities have been canceled including the prestigious College Portfolio Night event at the Heckscher Museum of Art in Huntington. This event is a highly anticipated event for AP Art and College Portfolio students, as many get the opportunity to present their portfolios in front of representatives from numerous colleges.

Art teachers Mrs. Kelly Cabasso and Mrs. Kristie Galante did not want students to miss this opportunity and put together this virtual event. Each student prepared PowerPoint presentations of their portfolios and was scheduled for five, 20-minute virtual sessions with college representatives. During the course of the evening, the representatives offered feedback about their work, made suggestions on what their portfolio may need to bolster while applying to colleges and provided some direction on future study.

After filling out a short exit survey, many representatives stated that the students were well-prepared, showed talent and that they enjoyed their interactions. They also unanimously indicated that they would like to participate in the event again.
The district applauds both students and staff on their hard work and dedication in putting this event together.
