The district is proud to announce that Junior-Senior High School students in Mr. Bryan Palermo’s and Mrs. Patricia Refino’s science research class earned the Overall Poster Rookie Award after participating in Northwell Health’s SPARK! Challenge. Along with the award, the district received $1,000.

This came after the class competed in the final phase of the SPARK! Challenge through a virtual field trip. The trip began with students showcasing their submission into the competition, a poster to highlight neurosurgery and neuroscience as health career options, and then participating in voting on the quality of the various project submissions. This was then followed by a virtual career expo and finished with the awards celebration and announcements. The purpose of this virtual experience was to expose high schoolers to the various career opportunities in health care.

The district is very proud of this achievement and applauds the dedication that the students devoted to the program.
