East Rockaway Hosts Alumnus Documentary

The East Rockaway Education Foundation and the East Rockaway High School Alumni Association are hosting a preview screening of the documentary, “Don Murray: Unsung Hero” on Oct. 20 at 8 p.m. at East Rockaway Junior-Senior High School’s Harry Bunting Auditorium.

The documentary is based on the life and career of Murray, a Class of 1946 graduate of the high school and film star. Murray’s breakout Hollywood role was opposite Marilyn Monroe in “Bus Stop.” Murray will take part in a Q&A session after the documentary.

Tickets will be available on a first-come, first-served basis at a cost of $10. Tickets can be ordered by mail, with checks made payable to the E.R. Education Foundation.

In addition, organizational and individual sponsors are being sought at $100 per sponsor to help cover event expenses, and are also payable by check and mailed to E.R.E.F. Proceeds, less expenses, will be divided between The East Rockaway Education Fund and the East Rockaway High School Alumni Association to help fund graduation awards given to the Class of 2017 graduating seniors. Donors will be recognized in a playbill at the event.
