Students from Centre and Rhame Avenue met some of their future teachers and administrators and engaged in social-emotional team building activities when they participated in sixth-grade orientation at the junior-senior high school on April 25.
During the activities, which were organized and led by school social workers and members of the guidance department, students had fun learning interesting facts about each other. Each of the games focused on identifying unique qualities of individual students, as well as showing them what they had in common. The sixth-graders also had an opportunity to sit in on a middle school class to get a preview of what teaching and learning in seventh-grade encompasses.
According to Assistant Principal Tj DiPietro, sixth-grade orientation offered students an inside look at what to expect when the begin seventh-grade, while giving them an opportunity to meet and get to know their peers. The students had a wonderful time.
