Centre Avenue Elementary School first grade students of Ms. Heather Figliozzi’s and Ms. Mary Arapas classes transformed into Whos from Dr. Seuss’ Whoville for Grinch Day. The day was filled with Grinch-themed interactive and hands-on activities that helped sharpen their skills in math and ELA. 

They participated in addition and subtraction fluency and problem-solving activities, and played “The Grinch Toss” math game in order to practice adding three addends.

Students also created flow maps to sequence the events of the story of the Grinch, created a bubble map to list adjectives to describe the Grinch from the beginning to the end of the story and participated in a writing activity where they described ways they could get the Grinch to smile.
