The color orange filled the halls in each building of the district as students and staff took part in honoring Unity Day. This event is part of National Bullying Prevention Month, where schools and communities across the country join together and wear orange to show their support for students who have been bullied.
By wearing orange, East Rockaway students and staff took a stand against bullying and spread the message of tolerance, acceptance and kindness. During lunch periods at the Junior-Senior High School, school social worker Ms. Amy Weissman safely passed out orange rubber wristbands that stated, “United We Stand Against Bullying – Treat Others The Way You Want To Be Treated.” Students also emphasized their stand against bullying by taking an online schoolwide pledge.
