The district is proud to announce that Ryan Fisk was appointed the district’s new director of technology and learning analytics. His first day with the district was March 22.

Ryan brings a diverse educational background to East Rockaway Schools, serving previously as an educational technology specialist with Nassau BOCES Model Schools. In addition, he was also the director of instructional technology at North Shore Hebrew Academy High School. Prior to that, he held health education director and teacher positions at three other districts. Ryan is also currently an assistant professor at Manhattanville College.

He earned his Bachelor of Science in physical education from Hofstra University and then went on to earn his Master of Science in Health Education from the same university. He is currently a doctoral candidate at Manhattanville College researching “flipped leadership,” a spin-off of the increasingly popular classroom practice. He is dual-certified in health and physical education and holds building and district-level administrative certifications. He earned his Certificate of Advanced Study in Educational Leadership from Hofstra University.

Ryan looks forward to working with the East Rockaway community and plans to learn about the technologies that are working well within the schools, and what could be advanced. “I hope to further East Rockaway’s strategic plan by contributing to a culture of innovation and achievement,” he said. “It is my goal to work hand-in-hand with all our stakeholders in realizing the many and exciting ways technology can fuse with content and pedagogy to create magic in our classrooms and beyond.”
