The East Rockaway School District is proud to announce that Junior-Senior High School junior Natalie Hayes has been awarded as a National Gold Medalist in the in the 2022 Northeast Regional Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, after advancing to the national level. She won the gold medal for her painting, “You're The Missing Piece.”

The competition is administered by the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers national office in New York City. The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards are the nation’s largest, longest-running, most prestigious visual and literary arts program recognizing creative accomplishments of students in grades 7–12. It is a symbol of excellence that can bolster resumes, college applications and scholarship applications. The awards distribute more than a quarter of a million dollars annually in direct scholarships and awards to National Medalists.

Natalie is the third East Rockaway student to ever achieve this distinction. The district congratulates Natalie on this amazing accomplishment.
