East Rockaway Schools honored the month of March as Social Work Month, with this year’s theme “The Time is Right for Social Work.”

Social workers contribute to interdisciplinary care teams in schools working closely with students and their families, hospitals, mental health centers, nonprofits, corporations, the military and in local, state, and federal government. East Rockaway social workers help students receive support and services they need to get the best possible education, while also assisting in their mental health and evoking positive change in their lives.

The district is very proud of the dedication and effort of Junior-Senior High School social workers Mrs. Amy Weissman Canale, LMSW, Mrs. Kristen Mednick, LMSW, and Ms. Maureen Schutta, LCSW; and Centre Avenue and Rhame Avenue Elementary School social worker Ms. Dawn McCabe, LCSW-R.
