The Centre Avenue Elementary School hosted a four-week “mathketball tournament” where all fourth, fifth and sixth graders were invited to participate. Each week there was a new math puzzle to solve.
The puzzles involved different tasks including solving a word problem through addition and subtraction, solving a word problem through multiplication and division, a picture number puzzle and a sudoku. As the weeks progressed, the pictograph showed the scores for each grade-level team. The participants were also entered to win a no-homework pass each week. At the end of the four weeks, fourth grade students won with a score of 51 points.
