Students at Rhame Avenue and Centre Avenue explored a variety of occupations during career week. The goal was to raise awareness of available jobs and encourage career exploration through themed weekly highlights and guest speakers that were students’ relatives.

Third graders at Rhame learned the ins and outs of being a New York City police officer, what subjects are needed for the field of advertising, and the process of saving money and making fast cash when working for Merrill Lynch.

Fifth and sixth graders learned about careers in engineering and were tasked to construct an I-beam. In addition, James O'Hagan, future NFL player for the Giants, spoke to students about pursuing their dreams and overcoming obstacles.

Centre students primped for the exciting week by participating in "dress for the career you want" day. In addition, sixth graders heard from speakers including a Jet Blue pilot, a dentist, a doctor and a lieutenant commander in the U.S. Navy.

Students were engaged throughout the week and enjoyed learning about the interesting career fields.
