Third graders at Rhame Avenue School participated in the Mad Science Simple Machines program, where they were introduced to the science and basics behind simple machines.

Partially funded by the school’s PTA, students explored the six main types of simple machines: the wheel and axle, the screw, the lever, the inclined plane, the wedge and the pulley.

The lesson educated students on the force, capabilities and various parts of certain machines. In addition, they learned about the value that machines have in today’s society and the advantages they offer in everyday tasks.
