Junior-Senior High School 11th grade students Emily Hernandez and Ray Acampora had the amazing opportunity to represent the East Rockaway School District while participating in the Nassau BOCES Reimagining Readiness Conference.

Students from districts across Nassau County engaged in round table discussions about new graduation requirements. Topics included what skills all students need to know, what courses all students should take and how students should be assessed.

The results of this conference will be shared with New York State Regents for their upcoming Blue Ribbon committee with new graduation requirements possibly coming within the next few years.

Superintendent of Schools Lisa Ruiz said the district “is proud to have Emily and Ray represent East Rockaway at this important conference.”
