The district is proud to announce that 12th grader Daniella Pedi has been awarded as a National Medalist in the 2021 Northeast Regional Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, after advancing to the national level. She won the gold medal for her drawing and illustration work titled, “What Lurks in The Dark.”

The competition is administered by the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers national office in New York City. For last year’s event, approximately 320,000 entries were received and viewed by more than 50 judges. More than 2,900 works of art received national recognition and included more than $300,000 in direct scholarships, as well as millions in tuition support being awarded.

Daniella is the second East Rockaway student to ever receive this distinction. The district congratulates Daniella on this amazing accomplishment.
