Centre Avenue Elementary School students received hands-on fire safety education Friday when the East Rockaway Fire Department visited the school for Fire Safety Month.

The firefighters delivered an assembly covering essential fire safety information before taking the presentation outside. Students then had the opportunity to operate fire hoses on the blacktop and explore the fire trucks up close.

The interactive experience gave students a rare chance to handle firefighting equipment and learn directly from first responders about fire prevention and safety protocols.

The district extended its gratitude to the East Rockaway Fire Department for providing the educational experience and for their continued service to the community.
