East Rockaway Jr/Sr High School celebrates Marine Corps' 250th anniversary with Veteran's Day lesson

East Rockaway seventh graders commemorated Veteran's Day with a special lesson honoring the 250th anniversary of the United States Marine Corps on Monday, Nov. 10.
School counselor Ms. Donna Robbins, working alongside Mr. Tesoriero, led all seventh grade social studies classes in activities designed to educate students about military service while expressing gratitude to those who have served. Students created thank-you cards for local Marines, watched an informative video exploring the different branches of the military and participated in meaningful discussions by sharing stories of family members who have served our country.
The lesson also introduced students to the various career opportunities available through military service, providing valuable insight into the paths of service members.
Ms. Robbins personally delivered the student-made cards, along with coffee and donuts, to local Marine recruiters following the lesson.
The activity reflects the district's ongoing commitment to fostering civic awareness and appreciation for military service among its students.
