100 reasons to celebrate: Centre Avenue kindergartners mark the 100th day of school

On Feb. 26, Centre Avenue Elementary School celebrated the cutest day of the academic year – the 100th day of school. Kindergarten students dressed as centenarians and put on their annual performance for parents and guests, turning a simple milestone into a morning full of music, creativity and community.
The celebration kicked off with a parade of both kindergarten classes into the multipurpose room, the students singing a special “100 Days of Learning” song set to the tune of I've Been Working on the Railroad. Once everyone had settled in and costumes had been properly admired, students presented handmade posters featuring the number 100 spelled out using exactly one hundred objects. Stickers, pom poms and cereal were among the materials of choice – and each poster was a small window into its creator's personality.
Students then took to the aisles to serenade their guests before joining them at the tables for one of the morning's most hands-on moments: counting out 100 Froot Loops to take home and string into a necklace as a keepsake from the big day.
The celebration wrapped up with a final round of songs performed together on stage, including heartfelt renditions of What a Wonderful World and This Little Light of Mine.
For the district's youngest learners, reaching the 100th day is a genuine milestone – and Centre Avenue made sure it felt like one.
