East Rockaway Jr/Sr High School science teacher Emanuela Matthews has been named a recipient of the 2026 STEM Star Teacher Award by the Long Island STEM Education Leadership Association (LISTEMELA).

Ms. Matthews will be honored at a recognition ceremony on Thursday, May 14.

The STEM Star Teacher Award was established to recognize educators who serve as a beacon of inspiration for their students. Ms. Matthews was selected for her exemplary commitment to LISTEMELA's core vision: ensuring equitable student access to high-quality learning experiences in STEM.
