East Rockaway UFSD Named a Best Community for Music Education for Thirteenth Consecutive Year

East Rockaway Union Free School District is proud to announce it has once again been recognized as a Best Community for Music Education (BCME) by the NAMM Foundation — marking the thirteenth consecutive year the district has earned this prestigious national distinction.
Now in its 26th year, the BCME designation honors school districts that demonstrate outstanding achievement in ensuring comprehensive music access and education for all students. To qualify, districts must provide detailed information about funding, graduation requirements, music class participation, instructional time, facilities, and support for both school-based and community music programs.
It's wonderful to see the Music Program in the East Rockaway School District celebrated with this BCME Award, said Seanna Silver, choral director at East Rockaway High School. To continue to receive this designation for thirteen years shows the dedication and commitment of each member of the Music Department. It is an important reminder of the lasting impact that music has had on our students and schools.
The NAMM Foundation is a nonprofit organization supported in part by the National Association of Music Merchants and its 15,000 member companies and professionals. The foundation promotes active participation in music-making across all ages through scientific research, philanthropic programs, and public service initiatives.
This national honor reflects the district's deep belief in the value of music education and celebrates the combined efforts of educators, students, families, and the community in making music a vital and celebrated part of school life.
