Centre Avenue School social workers earn award for Red Ribbon Week activities

Centre Avenue School social workers Michelle Picciolo and Lindsay Maleska have exciting news to share: the school earned second place in a national contest hosted by Positive Promotions, a leading provider of school wellness materials and resources.
Picciolo and Maleska submitted photos documenting the school's Red Ribbon Week activities to the company's contest last fall. This week, they received official notification of their win in the form of a letter and check from Positive Promotions, recognizing their efforts to promote a drug-free lifestyle among students.
The pair plans to put the prize money to good use, directing the funds toward assemblies for the upcoming school year focused on inclusivity and diversity.
Red Ribbon Week, observed each October, is the nation's oldest and largest drug-prevention awareness campaign. Centre Avenue School's participation reflects the district's ongoing commitment to student wellness and a safe, supportive learning environment.
