East Rockaway High School Students Train as Peer Leaders

Select 10th and 11th grade students at East Rockaway High School recently took part in a two-day Peer Leaders training designed to strengthen school unity and foster a culture of belonging. The training, conducted in partnership with Dr. Nancy Kaplan, guided students through icebreakers, team-building exercises, and discussions on how to create a more inclusive school environment.
As their first initiative, the newly trained Peer Leaders will visit Rhame Avenue and Centre Avenue Schools next week to lead community-building activities with 3rd and 4th grade students. This collaboration marks the beginning of their efforts to cultivate connections and support younger students in feeling welcomed and valued within the East Rockaway school community.
