East Rockaway students shine at Long Island Science Congress

Five students from East Rockaway Junior-Senior High School recently participated in the senior division of the Long Island Science Congress, a prestigious annual event that showcases student research in the sciences and encourages a spirit of inquiry and innovation. The students had the opportunity to present their projects to three separate judges, each of whom asked insightful questions that enhanced the students’ learning experience and deepened their understanding of their research topics.
East Rockaway students were recognized for their efforts across several award categories. Mia Salvador, Charlotte Webster and Mary Riordan received honorable mention for projects that demonstrated promise and innovation. Eva Lam earned a Meritorious Award for a project that stood out for its creativity and effort. Andrew Chen received an Achievement Award in recognition of his strong understanding of scientific concepts.
Participation in the Long Island Science Congress helps students develop critical thinking, communication and presentation skills, while giving them a platform to explore their scientific interests.
