East Rockaway High School honors seniors entering the armed forces

On June 17, East Rockaway Junior-Senior High School held a heartfelt and patriotic recognition ceremony to honor four graduating seniors who have chosen to serve their country through military service. The event took place in front of the school’s “Wall of Heroes,” a space dedicated to East Rockaway alumni who have served in the armed forces.
Surrounded by proud family members, faculty and fellow students, the seniors were formally recognized for their commitment to the United States military. In a special moment, their recruiter was present to conduct the official signing, marking the beginning of their journey in uniform.
Principal Richard Schaffer, Superintendent James DeTommaso, and school counselor Ms. Donna Robbins (who organized the event) offered words of encouragement and pride. Their messages emphasized the honor, courage and sacrifice embodied by military service and celebrated the students' decision to serve.
Hudson Arnold will be joining the United States Coast Guard, while Antonio Buzzetta, Andres Mezquita and Edwin Abreu Lopez will serve in the United States Marine Corps. Though these students will not be present at high school graduation due to their early reporting dates, the ceremony ensured their accomplishments and service were recognized with dignity.
