East Rockaway Board of Education reorganizes for 2025–26 school year

The East Rockaway School District Board of Education held its annual reorganization meeting on July 8 in the East Rockaway High School auditorium, officially kicking off the 2025–2026 school year.
Superintendent of Schools James DeTommaso took the oath of office, along with re-elected board members Peter McNally and Maureen Doyle. The board unanimously re-elected McNally as president and elected Doyle as vice president. Both were sworn in to serve in their leadership roles for the upcoming year.
East Rockaway High School junior Sofia Ferkov was also sworn in as the district’s first-ever Student Ex-Officio Board Member—a historic and exciting moment for the school community.
Additionally, Nereyda Amaya-Moran was reappointed and sworn in as district clerk, and Deputy Superintendent Michael Van Wart also took the oath of office. The district looks forward to a successful and productive school year ahead.
